The press office of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) responded on social media to the tragic news of the deaths of Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother, André Silva.

UEFA
On behalf of the European football community, we are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, Portugal international and Liverpool FC forward, along with his brother André Silva. Our thoughts are with their family, friends, teammates and all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.

At just 28 years old, Jota was a champion in England and a domestic cup winner with Liverpool. He also won the Nations League twice with the Portugal national team.

Earlier reports suggested that a blown tire may have contributed to the accident leading to the players' deaths.
