UEFA Names Candidates for Champions League Player of This Week

UEFA has announced the nominees for Player of the Week in the Champions League following the first round of group‑stage matches. Four players made the shortlist.

The nominees are Marcus Rashford of Barcelona, Dušan Vlahović of Juventus, Marcus Thuram of Inter, and Francisco Trincão of Sporting.

All four scored braces scored in this round: Rashford netted twice in Barcelona’s 3-2 win over Newcastle; Vlahović scored two goals and provided an assist in Juventus’s 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund; Thuram scored twice in Inter’s 2-0 win over Ajax; and Trincão struck twice in Sporting’s 4-1 victory over Kairat.
