UEFA published its pick for the team of the week following the first matchday of the 2025-26 Champions League group stage.
Goalkeeper of the week is Argentina’s Gerónimo Rulli of Marseille. The back four features Marcos Llorente of Atlético Madrid, Dutch defenders Derrick Luckassen (Pafos) and Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool), and Senegal’s Youssoupha Mbodji of Slavia Prague.
The midfield trio includes England’s Marcus Rashford representing Barcelona, Belgium’s Hans Vanaken (Brugge), Portugal’s Francisco Trincão (Sporting), and Brazil’s Pedro Bicalho of Qarabağ. Frenchman Marcus Thuram of Inter Milan and England’s Harry Kane (Bayern) were named the best forwards.
