Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has criticized the promotion's decision to grant Paddy Pimblett an interim lightweight title shot against Justin Gaethje. The bout is scheduled for January 25 at UFC 324 in Las Vegas.
Luke Rockhold for Submission Radio
I think they’re trying to do anything they can to put little Paddy into a title situation. I’m annoyed with fighters that think the interim title means anything. They’re doing anything they can to get Paddy the best matchups to be a champion and bring that love back to the UK.
Pimblett last competed in April at UFC 314, where he defeated Michael Chandler via third-round technical knockout. His record stands at 23-3. Gaethje’s most recent outing was a unanimous decision victory over Rafael Fiziev in March at UFC 313. He holds a record of 26 wins and five losses.
