
According to RMC Sport, an incident involving a sudden appearance of a rat on the football pitch caused a brief stoppage during the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Wales and Belgium.
The game, held in Cardiff as part of Group J, ended with a 4-2 victory for Belgium. In the 66th minute, a rat ran onto the field. Belgium’s goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tried to catch it but was unsuccessful. Ultimately, Brennan Johnson, a Welsh player, carried the animal off the pitch.
The Belgian team, with 14 points from six games, leads the group standings. Wales sits third with 10 points.
