Diogo Jota and Rute Cardoso met in school and had been together for over ten years. The couple welcomed three children. The tragedy struck just ten days after their wedding.
It is important to note that the accident also claimed the life of the former Liverpool player’s brother, Andre Silva, who, like Diogo Jota, was a professional footballer.
Earlier, it was announced that Liverpool have retired the jersey number worn by Diogo Jota.
