Organizers of the 2026 World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, proposed reducing costs for fan zones, according to the SBJ portal.
New York, which will host eight matches including the World Cup final, plans to keep its fan zone open for all 39 days of the tournament. A similar approach is being considered in Dallas, except for possible breaks on days without matches.
It is reported that other host cities have not yet made a final decision on how long their fan zones will operate. The key factor remains the amount of funds organizers can raise in the tournament's first days.
Initially, FIFA insisted on fan zones operating throughout the entire tournament but later relaxed its requirements due to financial concerns.
The 2026 World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19.
