Yamal Loses Passport After Turkey vs. Spain World Cup Qualifier

Barcelona and Spain winger Lamine Yamal, the 2024 European champion, could not find his passport to fly out of Turkey.

On 7 September in Konya Spain beat Turkey 6-0 in the second‑round World Cup 2026 qualifier. The 18‑year‑old Yamal started for La Roja, played 73 minutes, and provided two assists. He also became the first player in UEFA qualifying to record more than seven successful dribbles in a single match.

According to reports, Yamal lost his passport either while travelling from the airport to the hotel or on the team bus. Media say he left the Konya Büyükşehir Stadium without finding the document.

In 2025/2026 Yamal has played three La Liga matches for Barça, scoring two goals and providing three assists. Transfermarkt values him at €200 million.
