Latvian national team goalkeeper Kristers Gudlevskis lost 7 kg during the group stage match of the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship against Slovakia (3-2). This was revealed by sports journalist Ulvis Brože on social media.

Brože quotes the head coach of the Latvian team Harijs Vitolins as saying:

I have never seen anything like this before.
