Latvian national team goalkeeper Kristers Gudlevskis lost 7 kg during the group stage match of the 2024 Ice Hockey World Championship against Slovakia (3-2). This was revealed by sports journalist Ulvis Brože on social media.
Brože quotes the head coach of the Latvian team Harijs Vitolins as saying:

Throughout the game, Gudlevskis faced 42 shots on goal. In the shootout series, the Latvian goalkeeper only conceded one goal in seven attempts.
