Six-Time Stanley Cup Winner Ken Dryden Dies at 78

Ken Dryden, a six-time Stanley Cup champion and a participant in the legendary 1972 Summit Series, has died at the age of 78. He was a former goaltender for Team Canada and the Montreal Canadiens.

According to a statement released by the NHL club’s press office, the cause of death was cancer.

Dryden played for Montreal from 1970 to 1979, winning Stanley Cups in 1971, 1973, and every year from 1976 to 1979. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983. In 2007, the Canadiens retired his iconic No. 29 jersey.
