Jailton Almeida, the sixth-ranked heavyweight in the UFC, explained why he believes he should be the next contender to fight division champion Tom Aspinall.
With Jon Jones having announced his retirement, Aspinall, previously the interim champion, has now become the official champion.
Almeida posted the following message on his X.com account to back up his claim:
- Gane (2 titleshot failed + last fight robbery);
- Volkov (already fought Tom + last fight loss);
- Pavlovich (booked + already fought Tom);
- Blaydes (already fought Tom);
- Almeida (come over 2 wins, 2 finishs, 1 bonus)
Almeida last stepped into the octagon in January 2025 during UFC 311, where he secured a victory over Serghei Spivac by technical knockout in the first round. His professional record stands at 22 wins and three losses.
Aspinall’s last fight took place in July 2024 at UFC 304, where he defeated Curtis Blaydes by knockout in the first round, bringing his record to 15 wins and three losses.
