Former UFC fighter Irina Alekseeva commented in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net on a post by her compatriot Yana Santos, who had earlier slammed Irina for being fired from the UFC.
“I’m glad she thinks about me, it’s very nice, but if she really wants answers to the questions that interest her so much, she could ask personally instead of posting on social media. After all, aren’t we compatriots?I kept my illness private until I got better, and I hope she never experiences what I did with doping.
Everyone knows the doping story was a USADA mistake. But how would she know that? She doesn’t follow our athletes closely, she’s only looking at the results, apparently. Judge not, lest you be judged. After all, her family isn’t without fault either – her husband Thiago was caught doping himself.
"And I supported her and defended her against all the critics when Cyborg beat her up. Many called her a punching bag then, but I said she was brave for stepping up against such a beast. I didn’t know her personally, but she’s my compatriot, and it was unpleasant to hear such things about her,” Alekseeva said.
Recall that earlier Santos commented on Irina’s UFC release with a controversial social media post.
“How do you miss weight, lose 90% of your fights, and get caught doping in just four appearances?”
On October 11, Alekseeva lost by submission to Bia Mesquita at UFC Rio. The promotion decided not to renew her contract, and Irina left the world’s top promotion with a 1-3 record.
