Former UFC fighter and ex-Bellator champion Ben Askren shared an update on his health status following his lung transplant on social media.

Yo guys, update number three, it’s going pretty well. I’m starting to put some weight back on, but I did have a few setbacks, I was really hoping I’d go home today, which is my birthday, but it got pushed back because we had some setbacks. Yes I’m disappointed that I didn’t get out today, but maybe it’s what’s best. I did die, and I’m getting better and I’ll see my family soon.
40-year-old Ben Askren was hospitalized a few weeks ago with a severe case of pneumonia. He had been under sedation and on a ventilator. Askren holds a professional MMA record of 19 wins and two losses, with one fight ruled a no-contest.
