The heavyweight title bout between Tom Aspinall and Ciryl Gane became the second title fight in UFC history to end with a no contest (NC) result.

This is the first time an NC was declared immediately at the event, rather than afterwards, as was the case in the only other similar instance – after the Jon Jones vs. Daniel Cormier fight. Recall that its result was later changed due to Jones failing a doping test.

In the first round Gane poked Aspinall in the eye, after which the champion was unable to continue. The fight was declared a no contest.

Tom Aspinall’s previous fight took place in July 2024 at UFC 304, where he defeated Curtis Blaydes by first-round knockout. His record stands at 15 wins and 3 losses. One fight has been declared a No Contest.

Ciryl Gane last fought in December 2024 at UFC 310, defeating Alexander Volkov by split decision. His record includes 13 wins and 2 losses. One fight has been declared No Contest.
