Bellator and Rizin will hold a joint tournament in Japan

Bellator and Rizin promotions have announced a joint tournament to be held December 31 at the historic Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

An opening press conference will be held Wednesday in Tokyo to announce the event. As of now, it is known that the fights will take place in a Rizin ring, not in a cage.

Representing Bellator MMA at the tournament will be the promotion's current featherweight champion Patricio Freire (34-5), former featherweight champion A.J. McKee (19-1), as well as former bantamweight titleholders Juan Archuleta (26-4) and Kyoji Horiguchi (30-5). A fifth Bellator fighter will be announced in the coming days.
