Former two-division UFC champion BJ Penn is once again at the center of controversy. The 46-year-old fighter was arrested in Hawaii on charges of assaulting a man.
According to Island News, the incident occurred early Tuesday morning, November 4, in Hilo, where Penn resides. Police responded to a call from a 45-year-old man who reported that Penn had beaten him, hitting and kicking him multiple times. The victim sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital.
Penn was taken into custody several hours later without resistance. He was charged with third-degree assault. After posting a $1,000 bail, he was released and is scheduled to appear in court on December 2.
This marks Penn’s sixth arrest in 2025. He has previously faced allegations of domestic violence and multiple violations of a court-issued restraining order.
Penn last fought Clay Guida at UFC 237 in May 2019, losing the bout by unanimous decision. His professional MMA record stands at 16 wins, 14 losses, and 2 draws.
