American UFC lightweight Michael Chandler hopes to fight former two‑division champion Conor McGregor at an event held at the White House.
Chandler and McGregor were scheduled to meet in the octagon in June 2024 at UFC 303, but McGregor withdrew because of an injury.
Michael Chandler for MMA Fighting
Obviously that’s a fight that I want, first and foremost, I want the White House, ideally if it becomes Conor that would be awesome. I think we’re definitely a lot closer today than we ever have been… I do have some inside sources from people close to him who have said the exact same sentiment and obviously withdrawing from the presidential race in Ireland gets his focus back on training.
Chandler last fought Paddy Pimblett in April this year on the co‑main card of UFC 314, losing by TKO in the third round. His record stands at 23 wins and 10 losses.
McGregor’s most recent bout was against Dustin Poirier in July 2021 at UFC 264, when he lost by TKO after suffering a leg injury that left him unable to continue. McGregor’s record is 22 wins and 6 losses.
