Former Bellator light heavyweight champion Vadim Nemkov gave his predictions in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net concerning a potential match between Islam Makhachev and Khamzat Chimaev.
Vadim Nemkov exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
I think Islam will be in a better position. Chimaev has to cut a lot of weight to drop down to the welterweight division, whereas Islam will be at his natural weight. This will play a functional role in the fight. Chimaev won’t be able to do anything to Islam in wrestling or striking. Around the second or third round, Chimaev will start to face problems, and Makhachev will wear him down.
The fight between Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena for the welterweight title is set to take place on November 15 at UFC 322 in New York. Makhachev's record stands at 27 wins with just one loss.
Khamzat Chimaev's fight against Dricus Du Plessis is scheduled for August 17 at UFC 319 in Chicago. The Chechen athlete has a record of 14 wins and no losses.
