Dominican fighter Waldo Cortes-Acosta addressed current UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall following his early victory over Croatia’s Ante Delija.
Cortes-Acosta said after his win:
I feel a finger go deep inside my eye. The referee said stop, I stopped. I don’t know the referee or something didn’t poke me in the eyes. I decided to continue because I feel I can continue, my eye is at like 20 percent vision. [Tom] Aspinall, I go for you, I’ll be ready.
The bout between Cortes-Acosta and Delija took place in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 110, held overnight on November 2 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Waldo won by first-round knockout, improving his professional record to 15 wins and two losses.
Aspinall last competed against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in October. That fight was stopped in the first round due to an eye poke from Gane and ruled a no-contest after Tom was unable to continue. Aspinall’s record currently stands at 15 wins, three losses, and one no-contest.
