Colby Covington, ranked No. 10 in the UFC welterweight rankings, reacted to the announcement of the title fight between champion Islam Makhachev and Jack Della Maddalena.
The fighters will headline UFC 322 on November 16 in New York.
Islam is a lightweight, he’s gonna be a little smaller in the fight, but he’s a well-rounded fighter. So if he’s able to takedown JDM and control him, he could definitely get the job done. But it’s gonna be interesting to see how the size advantage plays a difference in the fight. The odds favored Makhachev, so I guess I gotta go with the odds.
Makhachev last fought in January 2025 at UFC 311, defeating Renato Moicano by first-round choke. His record stands at 27 wins and 1 loss.
Della Maddalena last fought in May 2025 at UFC 315, beating Belal Muhammad by unanimous decision. His record is 18 wins and 2 losses.
