Covington Urged Ferguson to Retire After Win at Misfits Boxing 22

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington commented on Tony Ferguson’s victory at Misfits Boxing 22, saying he was happy for the fighter but advised him to retire.

Congratulations to Tony for actually winning a fight. You know, even though it was against some influencer that has no combat sports experience, a win’s a win. My advice to Tony is, quit while you’re ahead and ride off into the sunset. Go enjoy time with your family, brother. If you get back in there again, you’re going to get hurt and no one wants to see you get hurt Tony, coz we like you.

Ferguson fought his most recent bout under boxing rules against influencer Nathaniel “Salt Papi” Bustamante on the night of August 31 in Manchester at Misfits Boxing 22. In that fight Ferguson won by technical knockout in the third round. His record is now 25 wins and 11 losses.

Covington last fought in the octagon against Joaquin Buckley in December 2024 at UFC on ESPN 63. That fight ended with Covington losing by technical knockout in the third round. His record stands at 17 wins and five losses.
