Former UFC and ONE flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson announced that he is ending his collaboration with popular blogger MMA Guru due to the latter's offensive comments toward followers of other religions.
On November 16 at UFC 322 in New York, USA, Islam Makhachev defeated Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision and became the new welterweight champion. During the fight, MMA Guru was running a live stream, rooting against Makhachev and referring to Muslims as "rats".
I do not watch all of Guru's content. I don't babysit him. I don't see what he's saying whatsoever... I asked him to explain himself, and we decided to part ways for now. If my son was to talk like that, my son would be getting an ass whooping from me because I didn’t raise him like that. I like Islam, I like all those guys. I have no problem with any religion.
Makhachev's previous Octagon appearance was against Renato Moicano in January 2025 at UFC 311. Islam won that fight by submission in the first round. His record stands at 28 wins and one loss.
Maddalena's previous fight was against Belal Muhammad in May 2025 at UFC 315. Jack won that bout by unanimous decision and claimed the UFC Welterweight Championship belt. His record is 18 wins and three losses.
