Irish MMA fighter Paul Hughes shared his emotions following his loss to Russian Usman Nurmagomedov at the PFL Champions Series 3 event in Dubai.

I want to thank everybody so much for travelling all the way to Dubai. The Irish fans are truly the best. I love Dubai. It's like a second home. I will be back, trust me, I will be back, and thank you, Usman, and his team as well – so much respect.
Hughes lost by unanimous decision. Their first fight, held in January 2025 at the PFL Road to Dubai Champions Series, ended with Nurmagomedov winning by majority decision. Nurmagomedov’s record is 20 wins, no losses, with one no contest. Hughes has 14 wins and three losses.
