American UFC lightweight fighter Dustin Poirier explained why his upcoming fight against Max Holloway will mark the end of his professional career.
Dustin Poirier
I know I have a lot more to give. I am leaving a lot of money on the table, leaving great fights on the table. That’s the reason I'm walking away like am I gonna be a world champion? You know how much it would take to get another title shot? I have had 3. To get another one is gonna be tough and I don’t know if I have that in me.
Poirier is set to step into the octagon against Max Holloway at UFC 318 on the night of July 20 in New Orleans.
His last fight was against Islam Makhachev in June 2024 at UFC 302, where Dustin lost by submission in the fifth round. In mixed martial arts, he has an impressive record of 30 wins, nine losses, and one no contest.
