Famous American wrestler and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson lost a significant amount of weight for his role in the film The Smashing Machine, the New York Post reports.
Johnson was seen at the Venice Film Festival, and fans immediately guessed he had dropped about 60 pounds (27 kilograms). Johnson portrays mixed martial artist Mark Kerr in the film.
The plot of The Smashing Machine is set in 2000 and follows the rapidly rising career of Mark Kerr. The story also focuses on the protagonist’s personal relationships and his battle with drug addiction. The cast includes Ukrainian boxer Oleksandr Usyk, who plays the role of Igor Vovchanchyn. The world premiere of The Smashing Machine is scheduled for October 3.
The film is directed by Benny Safdie, known for the thrillers Good Time, Uncut Gems, and The Curse series.
