Russian UFC middleweight Ikram Aliskerov struggled to name the greatest fighter in the history of Russian MMA in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net.
Ikram Aliskerov exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
Every era had its own best fighter. First it was Fedor Emelianenko, then Khabib Nurmagomedov, now it’s Islam Makhachev. I find it hard just to name one – each of these fighters was the best in their time. It’s difficult to compare them, and I don’t want to single out someone. Every era has its heroes.
On November 16 in the main event of UFC 322, Islam Makhachev defeated Jack Della Maddalena by unanimous decision. He captured the welterweight title and became the first Russian fighter to hold UFC championships in two weight classes. Makhachev’s record stands at 28 wins and one loss.
Khabib Nurmagomedov last fought on October 24, 2020, at UFC 254, where he submitted Justin Gaethje in the second round. His record stands at 29 wins and zero losses.
