The welterweight class brings new dimensions in opponents. That's why Khabib said the upcoming fight as the toughest one yet for Makhachev. The additional seven kilograms come with different strength and conditioning. Makhachev will have to change his training camp completely and gain weight. This will be a tough challenge, as fighters at 77 kg are stronger. Maddalena is also no easy opponent, as he can strike well and has good wrestling defense.
Previously, Khabib Nurmagomedov announced that the Makhachev vs. Maddalena fight is set for November 15 at a UFC event in New York, USA.
Islam Makhachev last fought in January 2025 at UFC 311, defeating Renato Moicano with a submission in the first round. His professional record stands at 27 wins and 1 loss.
Jack Della Maddalena last entered the octagon in May 2025 at UFC 315, winning via unanimous decision against Belal Muhammad. He boasts a record of 18 wins and 2 losses.
