Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier commented on his what-if matchup with well-known wrestler Brock Lesnar in an interview with Shannon Sharpe.
Daniel Cormier
The WWE got him, the WWE took him back. That was my golden goose, man. We had that moment in the [octagon], I pushed him, he pushed me. [WWE] were paying Brock $6-7 million a year, maybe [$10 million]. It was one of the safest fights I could have had. He would have to take me down to win the fight…I’m gonna make it so hard for him to get that takedown that by the time he gets it, he’s exhausted.
Cormier last fought Stipe Miocic in August 2020 at UFC 252, losing by unanimous decision. His record stands at 22 wins, three losses and one no contest.
Lesnar last competed under MMA rules against Mark Hunt in July 2016 at UFC 200. He originally won that bout by unanimous decision, but the result was later overturned after Lesnar tested positive for a banned substance. Lesnar’s MMA record is five wins, three losses and one no contest.
