Two-division ONE сhampion Anatoly Malykhin commented in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net on the rematch between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira at UFC 320.
For me, Pereira’s knockout in the rematch with Ankalaev was not a shock. After all, it’s a fight. During preparation, we live a whole another life, and it’s unknown what had happened in the training camp. Everyone only sees the final result. Maybe something didn’t go well for Magomed in training, or maybe he experienced some mental struggle. We don’t know.
"This is light heavyweight. Pereira landed, stunned Magomed, and took the fight. The coaching staff will analyze what Ankalaev did right and wrong. Who should Ankalaev fight next? He’s already beaten everyone, so we should wait for a trilogy with Alex. Pereira will try to avoid the third fight, of course.” Malykhin said.
On October 5 at UFC 320, Alex Pereira defeated Magomed Ankalaev by technical knockout in the second minute of the fight. The Brazilian fighter regained the light heavyweight title at 38 years old. Recall that in March 2025 at UFC 313, Pereira lost to Ankalaev by judges’ decision in a title fight. Pereira’s record stands at 13 wins and three losses. Ankalaev has 20 wins, two losses, one draw, and one no contest.
