Former UFC lightweight champion American Benson Henderson confessed he has fought several fights with a toothpick in his mouth.
Recall that during Henderson's fight against Jorge Masvidal in 2015, the audience was surprised to see a toothpick in Benson's mouth. That time, Henderson won by split decision.
I had a toothpick in a lot of fights, that's true. It was a bad habit. I'd go out for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and I'd leave the place with a toothpick. I'd just forget about it and that's how I learned to do anything with it.
Henderson's last fight was against Russian Usman Nurmagomedov in March of this year at Bellator 292. In that fight, Benson was defeated by a choking submission in the first round. After that fight, he announced the end of his career.
In September, 2022, Benson fought Peter Queally of Ireland at Bellator 285. That fight lasted the whole distance and ended in Benson's favor by unanimous decision of the judges. He has 30 wins and 12 losses under his belt.
