Former UFC and Strikeforce champion Luke Rockhold responded to a question about whether his social media post about “working on his golf swing” was a hint at retirement.
Luke Rockhold on Ariel Helwani's show
Yeah, like I said, I am 40 years old and I can’t be taking shots like that. I want a future for myself, and I got a lot of good things in the works. I mean, there’s not much left to do. I’ve done a lot in this sport. I’ve won my championships, and I’ve done Karate Combat. I’ve done bare knuckle. I’ve done boxing. Jiu-jitsu at the toughest level. I can compete with the best of the best, but I think it’s time to put the competition shoes on hold for the time of times.
On August 31 in Manchester, at the Misfits Boxing 22 card, Rockhold lost to Darren Till by knockout in the third round.
Rockhold’s last mixed martial arts fight under MMA rules was in August 2022 at UFC 278, where he lost to Paulo Costa by unanimous decision. His record is 16 wins and six losses.
