
Casey Kenney, a 34-year-old American mixed martial artist who previously competed in the UFC’s bantamweight division, will serve six months in an Arizona county jail, according to MMA Fighting.
The athlete pleaded guilty to aggravated assault. Additional charges of disorderly conduct and simple assault were dropped as part of a plea agreement. Kenney had initially also been charged with kidnapping.
Upon release, he will serve three years of probation, complete court-mandated treatment programs for substance abuse and domestic violence, and stay away from the victim. He is also prohibited from possessing or consuming alcohol.
The incident occurred in the early hours of July 22 in Phoenix. According to police reports, Kenney assaulted, choked, and detained a woman at his residence for 13 hours, threatening both her and others nearby. Medical assistance was provided to the victim at the scene.
