Irish fighter Ian Machado Garry expressed the opinion that former UFC welterweight champion, British fighter Leon Edwards, should be retired from professional competition.
Ian Machado Garry in an interview with Ariel Helwani
I've been saying this for a long time. Edwards should be retired – and we might see that. If he was willing to fight me for all or nothing, I'd fight him in a heartbeat, because I'd make sure he'd leave there absolutely punch-round, unconscious, and then leave with no benefit.
The 34-year-old Edwards is set to face Carlos Prates on November 16 at UFC 322 in New York, USA. In May this year, during UFC Fight Night 255, Edwards lost to Sean Brady via submission in the fourth round. Edwards’ record stands at 22 wins, five losses, and one no-contest.
The 27-year-old Garry will face Belal Muhammad on November 22 at UFC Fight Night 264 in Doha, Qatar. In April, at UFC on ESPN 66, Garry defeated Carlos Prates by unanimous decision. His record includes 16 wins and one loss.
