Max Holloway, the American holder of the BMF title, announced that he will not return to the octagon until next year due to a hand injury sustained during his fight against fellow American Dustin Poirier.

My right hand still hurts. If you have hopes of me fighting before the end of the year, probably not going to happen. I see a specialist some time this week. Things are not looking too up of me fighting one more time this year. What's next, I couldn't tell you, this stupid injury has pushed things back.
Recall that on July 20, Holloway and Poirier faced off in the main event of UFC 318, where Holloway won by unanimous decision.
The fighters first met in February 2012 at UFC 143, where Poirier won by submission (triangle choke and elbow lock) in the first round. In April 2019, at UFC 236, Dustin claimed victory by unanimous decision.
