Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira commented on rumors that his next fight with BMF titleholder Max Holloway is scheduled for January. UFC Brazil had previously published an announcement for the Holloway vs. Oliveira rematch but promptly deleted the post.
Look, there’s nothing confirmed about my fight, Max Holloway and I for January. So far, we don’t know anything. And it certainly won’t be in January, just to make it clear. But this fight will happen. I want it, he wants it, and you also want it. We’re just waiting for the contract, but I believe it should be around March or April, so I expect to have some news soon.
The first fight between Holloway and Oliveira took place in August 2015 at UFC Fight Night 74. Max won that bout by technical knockout.
Holloway last fought Dustin Poirier in July of this year at UFC 318. Max won that bout by unanimous decision. He holds a record of 27 wins and eight losses.
Oliveira last stepped into the octagon against Mateusz Gamrot in October of this year at UFC Fight Night 261. That fight ended in Charles's favor via submission in the second round. He holds a record of 36 wins, 11 losses, and one no contest.
