Former Glory light heavyweight champion Artem Vakhitov, in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, commented on the outcome of the second fight between Magomed Ankalaev and Alex Pereira.
Artem Vakhitov exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
I had a feeling the fight would end this way. I was 80% sure that Pereira would come back much stronger. In the first fight, he was cautious of takedowns and didn’t quite know how to act. But when Alex realized that Ankalaev couldn’t apply his wrestling skills in the first fight, he started doing his job in the second one, without hesitation or fear of takedowns.
In the main event of UFC 320, Alex Pereira defeated Magomed Ankalaev by technical knockout in the first round and reclaimed the light heavyweight title. Recall that in March 2025, Ankalaev won the first fight by unanimous decision. Pereira has 13 wins and 3 losses. Ankalaev’s record now stands at 20 wins, 2 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no contest.
