Former UFC fighter Aleksei Oleinik, in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, commented on Fedor Emelianenko’s statement that his protégé Vadim Nemkov was not signed by UFC because the organization does not want a champion from Russia.
Aleksei Oleinik exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
I’ve never encountered biased treatment toward Russians in UFC. I did see it toward some insincere fighters pretending to be someone they are not. But not toward decent fighters. Only those who negotiated with the UFC know the truth. There have been and will be champions from Russia. So I’m not sure if they specifically didn’t want to see Nemkov as champion, but others were.
"Do I see potential in Vadim to become a UFC champion? Yes. Some of our guys couldn’t do that, but he can,” Oleinik said.
Recall that Vadim Nemkov’s next fight will be against Brazilian Renan Ferreira on December 13 at PFL Champions Series 4 in Lyon, France. The 33-year-old Russian has 18 wins, two losses, and one no-contest. The 35-year-old Brazilian has 13 wins, four losses, and three no-contests.
