Former interim UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier made a heartfelt statement following his loss in the trilogy fight against BMF titleholder Max Holloway.
Dustin Poirier
It's been overwhelming honestly. I feel appreciated. I feel seen. I never stepped outside of fighting and looked at it this way. I never got to look at it third person. This week has been incredible. I feel loved by the fans, Louisiana and the company. I'm a kid living the dream out here, man, throwing punches.
The third bout between Holloway and Poirier occurred on July 20 as the main event of UFC 318, where Dustin lost by unanimous decision. Following this fight, he announced his retirement from professional MMA.
Poirier's record stands at 30 wins, 10 losses, and one fight deemed no contest. Holloway's record has 27 wins and eight losses.
