I Stopped the Fight So Reinier Could Go Home as Healthy as Possible: De Ridder’s Coach

Middleweight UFC fighter Reinier de Ridder’s coach, Harun Ozkan, reacted on social media to his fighter’s defeat against American Brendan Allen.

Recall that at UFC Fight Night 262 in Vancouver, Canada, de Ridder lost to Allen by technical knockout after refusing to enter the fifth round.

Harun Ozkan
I made the call to stop the fight after the fourth round. I take full responsibility for that decision and it was the right call to make for me in the moment. My job is to coach, but also to look out for my fighter’s health. Rather than risk unnecessary damage, I decided to call it a day and go home as healthy as possible. Live to fight another day.

Allen’s previous fight was in July 2025 at UFC 318, where he defeated Marvin Vettori by unanimous decision. Allen’s record stands at 26 wins and 7 losses.

De Ridder’s previous fight before this was in July 2025 at UFC on ABC, where he narrowly defeated Robert Whittaker by split decision. De Ridder’s record is 21 wins and 3 losses.
