New Zealand UFC fighter Dan Hooker has denied a claim made by Brazilian Charles Oliveira, who had earlier accused Hooker of turning down a fight with him at a promotion event in Brazil.

Charlie Olives, you've been lying in my name, my friend. He said I was offered a fight with him October in Brazil, and I turned it down. False accusations. You think that's really how that phone call went? I got a phone call from the UFC that said, 'Do you want to fight semi-conscious Charles Oliveira in eight weeks?' And I said, 'Oh no, I'm scared of Charlie Olives' lifeless body floating around the cage.' No, I was never offered that fight.
Hooker last fought Mateusz Gamrot in August 2024 at UFC 305. Hooker won that bout by split decision. His professional record stands at 24 wins and 12 losses.
Oliveira will face Rafael Fiziev on October 12 at UFC Fight Night 261 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In June of this year Charles suffered a first‑round knockout loss to Ilia Topuria. The Brazilian’s record is 35 wins, 11 losses and one no contest.
