At first I was preparing on my own. Then Khamzat Chimaev invited me to his camp before that fight that got canceled. Opponents were switched. Everyone pulled out. In the end I was just helping Khamzat and training. I sparred with him. And last week, right after the sparring ended, I went out, they handed me a phone and said, ‘You’ve been signed to Dana White’s Contender Series.’ I didn’t even have time to ask who my opponent would be: ‘Whatever, as long as it’s at 84 kg.’
On the night of August 13 in Las Vegas, on Dana White’s Contender Series, Russian fighter Baysangur Susurkaev knocked out Bahrain’s Murtaza Talha in the first round and earned a UFC contract. Susurkaev now has nine wins and no losses.
