UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria, who previously held the featherweight title, has announced his intention to secure a third title, despite having promised league officials not to discuss a move to the welterweight division.
Notably, welterweight champion Jack Della Maddalena is set to defend his title against Islam Makhachev, with their fight potentially scheduled for a November event in New York.
Ilia Topuria
Ideally, I would love to see Islam getting the title and the UFC letting me go up to 170 and getting the third belt. I always said: If someone did it, I also can do it. If no one did it, I can be the first one to do it. So, here we are. I’m very excited.
On June 29, Topuria achieved a first-round knockout victory over Charles Oliveira in the main event of UFC 317, claiming the title that had been vacated by Makhachev. His record now stands at 17 wins and no losses.
