Anatoly Malykhin, the two-division ONE champion, told Telecomasia.net that a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Islam Makhachev would attract enormous interest and would reveal the best fighter of our time, but there are still obstacles to making the fight happen.
If the fight takes place, everyone will watch it, especially our people. For me Islam is a fighter without weaknesses, he can do everything. Khamzat also seems invulnerable right now. Two elite fighters of our time will clash. It will be a great event to determine the best.
"However, first, I think Khamzat will have a very hard time making 77 kg. Second, for all this to happen, they need to win their fights. A lot of things must aling. And the fight, of course, would be insanely big," Malykhin said.
Recall that in a recent interview Chimaev said he is ready to meet Makhachev if Islam beats Jack Della Maddalena and becomes the UFC welterweight champion. In Chimaev’s view, a victory over him would help Islam become the organization’s best fighter faster, regardless of weight.
Khamzat Chimaev will next fight on August 17 against middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis, and on November 16 Islam Makhachev will try to take the title from Della Maddalena.
