Jones Confirms He Could Have Received $30 Million for Fight with Aspinall

Former UFC light heavyweight and heavyweight champion, American Jon Jones, confirmed that the league was prepared to pay him $30 million for a title unification bout against Brit Tom Aspinall.

Jon Jones on Geoffrey Woo's podcast
Some of my motivations aren't traditional anymore. I don't think I care about what most fighters would care about. Most fighters wouldn't turn down $30 million. They just wouldn't do that. My goals are different than other people's these days.

Jones last fought in November 2024 at UFC 309, defeating Stipe Miocic by technical knockout in the third round. In June 2025, Jones announced his retirement, and Tom Aspinall, who held the interim title, became the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Jones' record stands at 28 wins, one loss, and one no-contest.
