Justin Gaethje’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, responded to rumors suggesting that Paddy Pimblett could be the next challenger for UFC lightweight champion Ilia Topuria.

If he gets jumped by Paddy, he will retire, and he’ll never fight again in the UFC. Listen, Paddy Pimblett—I got nothing against the young man. He’s great, he’s entertaining. But his last three opponents are a combined 0–13, and I’m saying, how is he ahead in the rankings? How is Justin behind him? Justin Gaethje keeps getting overlooked. The UFC keeps giving favorites after favorites after favorites.
Gaethje previously stated he would retire from MMA if he isn’t granted a title shot.
Gaethje last fought in March 2025 at UFC 313, defeating Rafael Fiziev by unanimous decision. His professional record stands at 26 wins and five losses.
Pimblett last stepped into the Octagon in April 2025 at UFC 314, where he defeated Michael Chandler via third-round technical knockout. His record currently reads 23 wins and three losses.
Topuria knocked out Charles Oliveira in the first round at UFC 317 in June 2025. He remains undefeated with a perfect record of 17 wins and no losses.
