Russian UFC heavyweight Alexander Volkov, in an exclusive interview with Telecomasia.net, assessed the media rise of the league’s bantamweight champion, Georgian Merab Dvalishvili.

Merab promotes his social media and fights often, he’s an active fighter. He’s in the spotlight and trying to make himself seen. That’s great. Another question is that it’s hard to pull off the same thing in the heavyweight division – the technical differences, the injury rate, and many other factors are just too different. But regardless, Dvalishvili is doing well. What he shows is great. So despite a fighting style that isn’t always welcomed in the UFC, he’s still building up his reputation. He tries to insert show elements everywhere. He uses trash talk. That’s also a sign of professionalism. That’s why the UFC is interested in him, even though he represents Georgia. It’s not about politics. Especially since he’s now an American citizen.
Recall that Alexander Volkov’s next fight will be against Jailton Almeida on October 25 in Abu Dhabi at UFC 321. Volkov has 38 wins and 11 losses and is ranked in the top three of the heavyweight division. Almeida has won 22 of 25 professional fights and rounds out the top five.
