Former two-division UFC champion Jon Jones spoke about the influence legendary Canadian fighter Georges St-Pierre had on his career.
Jon Jones told the No Script podcast:
I really enjoy the way GSP conducted himself — the professionalism, the size of his team, every member of his group was vital. The way that he would wear suits to the UFC — he was one of the first fighters to do that. I wanted to model my career after him, and that’s why I met Greg Jackson. Greg Jackson was one of GSP’s coaches at the time, and sure enough, this guy completely changed my life, my psychology. Modeling myself after GSP was brilliant.
Jones last fought in November 2024 at UFC 309, knocking out Stipe Miocic via third-round TKO. His record stands at 28 wins, one loss, and one no-contest.
St-Pierre’s most recent bout took place in November 2017 at UFC 217 against Michael Bisping. The fight was stopped in the third round, with Georges winning by technical submission. His MMA record is 26 wins and 2 losses.
St-Pierre made his UFC debut in January 2004, facing American Karo Parisyan. Georges won that bout by unanimous decision.
