Modern Fighters Are Stronger Than Those From Velasquez and Liddell Era: Pavlovich

Russian UFC heavyweight Sergei Pavlovich told Telecomasia.net in an exclusive interview that fighters from the older generation, like Cain Velasquez and Chuck Liddell, would not be competitive in today’s mixed martial arts.

Sergei Pavlovich exclusively for Telecom Asia Sport
We have great respect for them. They were titans in their time. But the level rises every year. Honestly, today’s fighters are a bit stronger than those from back then. That’s not a secret. Everyone understands that. Mixed martial arts evolve year by year.

For context, Chuck Liddell was the UFC light heavyweight champion from April 16, 2005, to May 26, 2007. Cain Velasquez was the heavyweight champion in 2010 and again in 2012–2013.
