Portuguese fighter Manel Kape has made a bold statement regarding UFC flyweight champion Joshua Van.
Manel Kape for MMA Fighting
The matchmakers when they see me fight against Joshua Van, they’ll think what [did we do?]. We threw this kid to hell. It’s not going to be a competitive fight. For who thinks it’s going to be a competitive fight, it ain’t going to be a competitive fight. I’m going to destroy him and badly.
Van last fought Alexandre Pantoja on December 7 in the co-main event of UFC 323 in Las Vegas. Joshua won the bout via first-round technical knockout after the Brazilian was unable to continue due to injury. With the victory, the fighter from Myanmar claimed the UFC flyweight title. His record stands at 16 wins and two losses.
Kape last entered the Octagon against Brandon Royval on December 14 at UFC Vegas 112. The fight ended in Kape's favor via first-round knockout. He has 22 wins and seven losses to his name.
