Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has given his prediction on a potential fight between the light heavyweight titleholder Alex Pereira and former heavyweight champion Jon Jones.
“Talking about Jon Jones is a bit complicated. Because I admire him a lot. When I fought the first time, Jon Jones was there. It’s definitely going to be a fight that I will sit down and cheer for Brazil, for ‘Poatan’. But I’ll be apprehensive watching it because (Jones) is great,” Pereira said, as translated by MMA Fighting.
I think that whoever stands in front of ‘Poatan’, regardless of being someone who only takes people down, if (Pereira) lands a hand, he’s getting knocked out.
On October 5 at UFC 320, Pereira defeated Magomed Ankalaev by technical knockout in the first round. After the fight, the Brazilian expressed his desire to face Jones in the heavyweight division.
Recall that on October 12, at the main event of UFC Fight Night 261 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Oliveira will fight Mateusz Gamrot.
Gamrot last stepped into the octagon in May 2025 at UFC on ESPN 68, defeating Ludovit Klein by unanimous decision. He holds a record of 25 wins and 3 losses, with one no-contest.
Oliveira’s most recent fight was in June 2025 at UFC 317, where he lost to Ilia Topuria by knockout in the first round. His record stands at 35 wins, 11 losses, and one no-contest.
